Ilmattino.it through Sport Witness has delivered the latest update on the transfer of Sokratis Papastathopolous from Arsenal to Napoli.
The Greek defender is about to leave the Emirates after new signings from Arsenal pushed him down the pecking order.
The Gunners have been strengthening their team in this transfer window and are eager to make sure they have the right players at every position.
Their defense has been problematic for them and it seems that now they have fixed it with new defenders and that frees Sokratis to find a new team.
The Greek defender’s main suitor is Napoli and he is eager to join the team in which his national teammate Kostas Manolas plays.
On the latest of his transfer to the Italian team, Ilmattino.it claims that the defender is getting closer to change before adding that he is being delayed by two things.
The first thing is that the Italians are looking to sell off the previously highly sought after defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Senegalese defender had a lot of serious suitors before now, but the Italians hadn’t been willing to sell and that seems to have run out.
They need to move towards Koulibally before landing Sokratis.
The second problem is that, with only one season left on his current contract, the defender hopes that Arsenal will give him a free transfer, but that has yet to be agreed.
