JOHANNESBURG – An arrest warrant has been issued for the self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary.

The couple fled the country to Malawi last week.
In a video on social media, Bushiri says they feel unsafe in South Africa.

It demands that the government ensure their protection before they return.
The government says it has started the process to extradite the couple, who are accused of fraud and money laundering.

Bushiri insists that he is not trying to evade prosecution, but says he is seeking intervention from his home country.
The government says they will extradite the Bushiris using SADC extradition laws.
