An arrest was made following the leaked tuition exams, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga said Tuesday, eNCA reported.

This was the latest development since the Council of Education Ministers (CEM) said on Tuesday that the investigation into the leaks in the matrix test had not yet been completed and that “there is still work to be done.”

The CEM received a preliminary report on the leaks on Monday and agreed that “the credibility, integrity and fairness of the review cannot be compromised,” hence the need for further deliberations.

In a statement, Basic Education Department spokesman Elijah Mhlanga said the report would be processed internally and that Minister Angie Motshekga would host a press conference later this week to make an announcement.

Last week, the CEM held an emergency meeting to consider the implications of the latest research advances on the leakage of three matrix question articles: math article 2, physical science article 2, and life science.

In addition, five Gauteng students were caught cheating during their final exams, News24 reported.
