Aphiwe Dyantyi Rugby’s career will remain in limbo after the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sports (Saids) announced on Thursday that its hearing on a doping offense was postponed.

The 26-year-old Springbok winger, who swept international rugby in 2018, tested positive for three banned substances after a national camp in July last year.

A mandatory B sample confirmed the findings.

“The Independent Tribunal Panel postponed the hearing procedure after three days,” Saids said in a statement.

“The initial hearing date was postponed due to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions. To continue to protect the athlete’s rights to a fair trial, SAIDS will not comment further on the procedure.”

Both parties have yet to agree on a new date.

It is understood that all of the witness testimony was given virtually, while Saids’ lead attorney attended the proceeding via conference call.

All the other relevant parties had been physically present.

Dyantyi earlier this year denied wrongdoing and presented the watchdog with a list of supplements that could have contributed to his test results.
