- Cape Town police lost another member after an officer was shot and killed in Delft.
- The 40-year-old officer was based in Mowbray.
- Last month, two officers were ambushed and attacked while patrolling the streets of Bloekombos. Their firearms were stolen.
A police officer was killed in Delft, Cape Town, on Friday, Western Cape Police spokesman Capt. FC Van Wyk said.
“An off-duty police officer was shot and killed in Delft on Friday afternoon,” Van Wyk said in a statement.
He said the 40-year-old agent worked at Mowbray SAPS.
Last month, two officers were killed in an ambush and had their firearms stolen in the city.
Sergeant Mnakwazo Mdoko and Sheriff Mninawa Breakfast were attacked while on patrol along Phumla Street in Bloekombos.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 32-year-old man arrested in connection with the murders appeared in Blue Downs Magistrates Court.
Van Wyk said Friday’s shooting happened on Ravel Street in Delft South.
“Falcons [Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation] detectives have launched the investigation. More details will follow, “he said.
