ANC Youth League (ANCYL) affiliates across the country are embarking on marches to ANC headquarters, calling for the dissolution of structures where older generations are in positions of power to care for the youth of South Africa.

Mamabolo said that the ANC is run by “older people” and, despite the fact that the members of the youth league have to be between 14 and 35 years old, many people within the party are exceeding their reception.
He explained that dissolving the old structure “is better for the young … The ANC with the elderly does not get us anywhere.”
He said ANCYL members are asking the ANC to “do the right thing and give young people what they need.”
“We tell older people that they have too much on their plate and they don’t have enough time to deal with the problems that affect the young. Young people are the voice. ”
Mamabolo said that since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, there have been no statements about how the virus has affected young people and that issues such as rising unemployment levels affect younger generations. But these problems cannot be solved if they are not prioritized, he explained.
“They are not focused. They cannot run every structure and give it their full attention. We want to give young people a mechanism to focus on what concerns them. We need the ANC to intervene as a maternal body and take out the elderly to give the young a chance ”.
The youth league wrote a letter to the ANC secretary general, Ace Magashule, calling for the removal of all people over the age of 35, because their continued holding of their posts is unconstitutional.
The league also demanded that the national youth task force be disbanded and that all youth affairs be placed in the hands of their “rightful owners.” The task force was established after the league did not attend the conference, and was ordered to bring them to the conference earlier this year.
The letter, signed by 107 members of the youth league, demanded that Magashule respond before September 2.
