JOHANNESBURG – An African National Congress (ANC) grouping calling itself ANC Youth League (ANCYL) crisis committee is taking the parent body to court in pursuit of an order outlawing the National Youth Work Team (NYTT) ).

The task force was appointed in July last year after the national executive committee (NEC) dissolved ANCYL’s national structure.

The NYTT was tasked with overseeing the league’s affairs.

The ANC is facing another headache as a group of ANCYL members from all nine provinces were now heading to court in an attempt to regain control of the league.

The youth league crisis committee claimed Sunday that the NYTT was made up of older members who did not have to take on the struggles of the youth.

“Young people in the past 16 months, since the dismissal of ANCYL NEC in July 2019, have taken various actions to revive their organization,” said a committee member.

The crisis committee said it had tried numerous times to involve national leaders to no avail.

The group planned to march to the ANC headquarters at Luthuli House on Friday.
