The Gauteng Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) will march on Monday to ANC headquarters and Prime Minister David Makhura’s office to “defend” the constitution and highlight the plight of the poor.
“We have made the decision that our comrades in the ANC leadership and government must act on the fundamental principles of our fight for justice and freedom, or they will face the full and uncompromising wrath of the masses,” the MKMVA said.
The MKMVA protesters will be joined by members of the National Civic Organization of SA (Sanco), the Student Congress of SA (Things) and the National Association of Drivers and Cargo Transport of SA (Sancatdra).
“We embark on this action as disciplined revolutionaries whose aim is to draw the attention of comrades in the ANC and the government that we have reached our absolute limit of tolerance for their unbridled betrayal of our struggle, the poor and the oppressed black (especially Africans) majority, ”said the MKMVA.
The association said it was saddened that the ANC had deviated from the goal of the liberation struggle, which was to liberate the people of SA.
“We have done everything in our power to raise these issues with leaders. We have done it in marches and demand letters. We have recorded the sadness of how our members – the heroes and heroines, the martyrs who gave their lives for our freedom – are forgotten and treated as beggars in this democratic society, while the defenders of apartheid, such as the former apartheid president FW of Klerk and others who committed crimes against humanity, be treated with dignity.
