ANC provincial president and prime minister Sihle Zikalala said Ndobe remained a disciplined ANC leader even amid the allegations.
Hurt and upset, he did not invent conspiracy theories or slander anyone. When he was released, like an experienced cadre of the ANC, he told the public that he was going to receive guidance from the leaders of his organization, ”he said.
Zikalala expressed concern over the divisions caused by the matter, leading some within the ANC to feel that they cannot love both Magaqa and Mluleki.
“The ANC has lost several comrades in the uMzimkhulu subregion, and in fact this has deepened divisions and strained relations between comrades who had not only grown up together but had always promised solidarity among themselves,” he said.
Zikalala called for peace and unity in the region, saying that the ANC had an obligation to build “eternal unity on behalf of all deceased comrades, but specifically these two leaders.”
Mluleki’s widow, Nobuhle Ndobe, said she had endured excruciating and unbearable pain. She described him as a wonderful husband and father.
Speaking on behalf of the opposition parties, IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa said that the vice president was “mature, fair, open-minded, he was a humble leader.”
Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, who represented the ANC’s national executive committee at the funeral, said the party would never forget him.
“We will not forget him, his spirit lives on, his legacy lives on, and we thank his family for having given him to serve the people. The ANC is grateful for their contribution to society, ”he said.
