ANC coalition and Alianza Patriótica ends for ‘purge’ of comrades – The Citizen

The ANC in Johannesburg has terminated its political relationship with the coalition ally, the Patriotic Alliance (PA), as they would rather return to the opposition seats than allow the PA to “purge” its members who were deployed to work. at the Johannesburg Property Company (JPC).

According to the Palestinian Authority, the ANC made the remarks on Monday during a meeting between the parties.

The ANC announced Tuesday that the collapse of the “children’s coalition” was due to the Palestinian Authority’s failure to understand the separation between party and state, the suspension of employees without following correct procedures, and a lack of respect for good governance.

ANC Johannesburg spokesperson, Sasabona Manganye, said they understood that the parties involved in the “Government of Local Unity (GLU)” had agreed to build a local government that is capable of providing democratic and accountable government for communities.

“The ANC wishes to make it clear that it will not compromise the agreement and the memorandum of understanding taken with the advent of the formation of the Government of Local Unity, as the leader of the majority party,” Manganye said.

PA not impressed

But it was the ANC that did not understand this agreement, Palestinian Authority spokesman Bruce Nimmerhoudt said in a strong statement on Wednesday.

At a meeting Monday between the ANC and the Palestinian Authority, Nimmerhoudt said the Palestinian Authority reiterated that the three ANC “comrades” in the JPC were suspended by the acting director general last month pending an investigation into their conduct.

This followed the suspension of the embattled JPC CEO Helen Botes and its CFO Imran Bhamjee by Johannesburg Mayor Geoff Makhubo pending an investigation into allegations of procurement irregularities related to Covid-19 cleaning and disinfection contracts.

The DA has also put the irregular expenditure of 89 million rand from the city’s finances at the feet of JPC.

But all processes and procedures were followed to suspend executive manager Sthembiso Mntungwa, internal audit general manager Sipho Mzobe and senior supply chain manager Fitzgerald Ramaboea, the Palestinian Authority said.

“No one in the Palestinian Authority knew at the time of their suspensions that they were comrades from the ANC. Certainly, that was not the reason they were suspended and he had not informed the decision. “

“The sad history of ANC-governed state departments and state entities over the past 20 years certainly speaks volumes for the ANC’s government credentials. It would be wonderful if someone believed today that the ANC is suddenly discovering a hitherto unheard of enthusiasm for clean governance, ”said Nimmerhoudt.

Nimmerhoudt said the ANC in Johannesburg did not look down on corruption, and the ANC secretary in Johanneburg, Dada Morero, said that “no money was stolen there.”

“The ANC wanted us to protect people who, according to them, did not steal, but only committed corruption. So, they gave us a corrupt instruction to let their comrades go back to work. Now they are trying to get us out because we reject that corrupt instruction. “

“Last year, this same ANC came with cap in hand, literally asking for our vote, which reinstalled them in power. We can use that same vote to eliminate them again. “

“Now we are going to court for an urgent injunction against the ANC.”

This is a story in development.
