AmaXhosa’s kingdom has a new king

WILLOWVALE – The kingdom of AmaXhosa in the Eastern Cape has a new king.

The royal council of AmaXhosa made the announcement Friday at Nqadu Great Place in Willowvale.

Almost a year has passed since the death of King AmaXhosa Mpendulo Zwelonke Sigcawu.

Acting King Dumehleli Nkosi Mapasa also passed away and was buried two weeks ago.

Since then, the throne has been vacant.

“After having examined all the houses of King Xolilizwe, we stopped at the house on the right. We identified Ahlangene, with a royal name Ahh! Vulikhaya,” said Inkosi Ngubelizwe Sigcawu, president of the royal family.

“We all agreed to name him and move him to the Great House.”

The 51-year-old is a teacher by profession and a former ambassador to Ireland.

He is in the process of resigning his current ambassador to Malawi to ascend the throne.

King Vulikhaya Sigcawu says he is ready to take the reins.

The royal family has completed all the necessary processes and has sent its recommendation to President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Now they are waiting for the certificate of appreciation.
