- He is alleged to have been a hit man for political and taxi-related killings.

A KwaZulu-Natal man linked to numerous killings, including two murders of police officers and the attempted murder of another officer, was killed during a shootout with police in Kwandengezi, provincial police said on Monday.
The man was wanted in connection with the murder of a police captain who was shot in full uniform at dawn on Monday, December 14.
“The 72-hour activation plan was started immediately comprising Criminal Intelligence, National Intervention Unit and K9 Pietermaritzburg. Members worked tirelessly around the clock to track down the suspect who was in Kwanyuswa on Bothas Hill,” said police spokesman Col. Katlego Mogale.
Mogale said that when police entered the man’s room on Saturday, the man shot them and the police responded, killing him.
“Since then, the preliminary investigation has established that the deceased suspect was also wanted for six murder cases, including the murder of Sergeant Zulu, who was shot and killed while in his private vehicle with his wife in front of his door on 22 May. May 2020 and an attempted murder of a police officer, “Mogale said.
Mogale also said the man was suspected of being a hit man involved in political and taxi-related killings.
“The additional information received alleges that the deceased suspect was a hit man and carried out taxis and political coups and might not be working alone. An investigation is continuing into his participation in other crimes and his accomplices,” Mogale said.
