JOHANNESBURG – Former Hawks spokesman Hangwani Mulaudzi said on Monday that he was willing to admit any wrongdoing should he be found on the wrong side of the law after allegations surfaced that he diverted money received from the National Commission. of Lotteries (NLC).

Mulaudzi announced that he had resigned from the Hawks as their spokesperson following a complaint from the Democratic Alliance (DA) to Police Minister Bheki Cele and Commerce Minister Ebrahim Patel regarding the R3 million he received to build a sports center in Mukondeni. Village, Limpopo.

Mulaudzi is alleged to have colluded with senior commission officials to secure the funds to spend on things unrelated to the development of the sports field.

A report by private investigator Paul O’Sullivan alleges that Mulaudzi obtained the money for development in Mukondeni Village.

However, he is accused of using the money on items unrelated to the project itself, such as the purchase of minibus taxis and bribes paid to NLC officials.

The district attorney said that receiving commission money from Muluadzi was a conflict of interest, primarily because he was a high-ranking official, but also because the Hawks were investigating corruption cases at the NLC.

The party said that this would have clouded its judgment to carry out a thorough investigation considering that the organization allegedly awarded money to its own.

Muluadzi, on the other hand, said he is not surprised by the accusations against him, saying this was nothing more than a smear campaign to tarnish his name.

“They have insulted me, they have told me that it would be in a body bag, that kind of thing that people have told me. So how do you deal with those things? I have no money, if I had money, I would take this person to court. “

Meanwhile, Hawks manager Godfrey Lebiya accepted Hangwani’s resignation with immediate effect.

Mulaudzi said he appreciated any investigation into the matter.
