All change for New Zealand, Australia in dead rubber from Bledisloe

All the black people coach Ian Foster and his Wallabies counterpart Dave rennie both named renewed teams on Thursday for the fourth round of this weekend’s Bledisloe Cup in Brisbane, with New Zealand bleeding four newcomers and Australia three.

Foster made eight personnel changes in his starting XV, in addition to reverting Beauden Barrett to his preferred position on the flyhalf, with his brother Jordie replacing him as fullback.

Rower Akira Ioane is on the initial side of his inaugural test, with fellow newcomers Asafo Aumua, Cullen Grace and Will Jordan on the bench.

Ardie Savea returns from paternity leave at number eight, while Scott Barrett and Codie Taylor enter the tight five.

New Zealand is looking to rub salt on Australia’s wounds after crushing them 43-5 in record fashion in Sydney last weekend to retain the trans-Tasmanian Bledisloe Cup after a draw in Wellington and victory in Auckland.

In a sign of the depth of talent available to them, Sevu Reece enters the right wing after failing to make the squad in Sydney and Rieko Ioane is on the left wing to replace rising star Caleb Clarke.

Foster said there was no chance for his players to relax in Brisbane.

“It’s an All Blacks-Wallabies test and that’s special,” he said.

“We know how excited they will be, so we have to make sure we are too, because we don’t want to give ourselves any excuses at the end.”

Hodge surprise

Australia are looking to bounce back from their humiliating loss in Sydney, a sloppy performance marked by too many turnovers and a failure to create opportunities.

But Rennie has made the changes sound, including the explosive decision to move Reece Hodge, who often plays winger or winger, to the player at No. 10, with Matt To’omua and James O’Connor still injured.

Rennie has also handed NSW Waratahs enforcer Lachlan Swinton a 23-year-old debut at the expense of Ned Hanigan, who falls to the bank.

Australia has had trouble finding a decent blind end since Scott Fardy left for Ireland with Rennie using first Pete Samu and then Hanigan.

Rob Valetini, Liam Wright and Fraser McReight have had an opportunity from the bench, but none have seized the opportunity.

On the other hand, veteran lock Rob Simmons replaces the injured Lukhan Salakaia-Loto, Tom Banks replaces Dane Haylett-Petty as fullback and Tom Wright gets the go-ahead for his first start over winger Filipo Dauguno, who had a poor performance on Last weekend.

And Hunter Paisami was preferred in the center to Irae Simone, who doesn’t even make it to the bench, which includes another rookie in the pillar Angus Bell.

“Lachlan, Tom and Angus have been excellent over the past seven weeks and have earned their first Australia jersey through hard work and good performances,” Rennie said.

“As a group, we are really disappointed after last weekend and we have the opportunity to show our character in Brisbane on Saturday.”
