JOHANNESBURG – President Cyril Ramaphosa said the first good news of the day was the arrival of vaccines.

Ramaphosa will address the nation on Monday night on developments related to the country’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“The second [good news] is that we have registered our lowest daily increase in infections since the beginning of December of last year. “

He said a series of restrictions that would be eased include a curfew from 11 pm to 5 am and that religious gatherings would now be allowed to resume.

The sale of alcohol is now allowed Monday through Thursday for off-site consumption.

The speech follows meetings in recent days of the coronavirus national command council, the president’s coordinating council and the cabinet.

Previously, the president led a delegation of officials who received the first million doses of the coronavirus vaccine from the Serum Institute of India.
