GladAfrica Championship side Ajax Cape Town won a dramatic victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) at Premier Soccer League (PSL) promotional playoffs at Rand Stadium on Sunday.
Ajax Cape Town opened the scoring just before half-time when veteran forward Eleazar Rodgers headed in in the 47th minute to give the Urban Warriors the lead.
After the break, the Corporal’s side looked the stronger of the two sides and was more likely to double their advantage as their opponents held on with a determined defense.
Then TTM managed to turn the tie around with two goals in quick succession from Thembisani Nevhulamba in the 58th minute and then from Tebogo Thangwane three minutes later.
Midfielder Sonwabile Mfecane managed to score a vital goal as Ajax Cape Town got back into the duel in the 79th minute with just over ten minutes to go.
Then Ajax dramatically completed their comeback when substitute Kegan Johannes scored with an excellent direct volley from a corner kick for a vital victory.
The victory gives Calvin Marlin’s Ajax Cape Town an important victory as they seek to return to the top flight in South Africa after losing automatic promotion on goal difference.
