Airlink announced that it has launched a new scheduled passenger air service between Maputo and Johannesburg.

JOHANNESBURG – The privately owned regional airline, Airlink, announced on Wednesday that it has launched a new scheduled passenger air service between Maputo and Johannesburg.

Airlink’s return flight on the route follows the lifting of travel restrictions that reduced travel between neighboring countries as they both worked to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

“Airlink is proud and excited to launch this new service and add it to our growing route network in South Africa. It offers travelers more choice, while allowing crucial business, commercial, tourism and family links between two nearby regional markets. “. said Airlink CEO Rodger Foster.

“Although we have started flights to Maputo, we plan to add more Mozambican destinations to our schedule in the coming days.”

He said the airline was providing travelers with “seamless connectivity”, with new services linking Johannesburg with Cape Town and also with Durban.

Connections were also available to other South African Airlink destinations such as Port Elizabeth, East London, Bloemfontein, Upington, Kimberley, Polokwane, Hoedspruit, Nelspruit, Skukuza, Pietermaritzburg, Mthatha and to key destinations throughout the SADC region.

“The excellent value for money of Airlink’s economy class fares includes a 20 kg allowance for checked baggage in economy class plus a 15 kg allowance for sports equipment,” the company said.

It said its planes have been equipped with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, which are effective at blocking 99.97% of particles, including coronavirus molecules.

The HEPA filters sterilize the cabin air, which is completely renewed every three minutes.
