A Fourways mansion belonging to Angelo Agrizzi, Bosasa’s former COO turned whistleblower, was auctioned for R9 million on Thursday.
Agrizzi told Fin24 shortly after the auction concluded that the house had been on the market for more than two years.
“The real estate market is in disarray and I decided to put the house up for private auction. I am happy with the result of the auction. It is a case of downsizing for my wife and me,” he said.
In his opinion, 9 million rand is a fair price and what he wanted for the house.
“Of course one would always like more, but it is certainly not a 100 million rand house as some claim,” he added.
The property is owned by the Agrizzi Family Trust and is located on the Helderfontein Estate.
Joff van Reenen, Principal and Principal Auctioneer for High Street Auctions, confirmed that a bid of R9 million was received for the Helderfontein Estate property.
“We are awaiting confirmation of acceptance by the family trust that owns the house,” he said.
The opening offer was listed as R5 million. High St Auction Co. held a virtual online auction and interested bidders had to provide a registration deposit of R100,000.

According to information available on the auction website, the Helderfontein Estate boasts a country lifestyle with Fourways and Lonehill “a stone’s throw away.”
The farm offers residents a variety of leisure activities, ranging from biking and walking trails through indigenous landscapes to playgrounds with picnic spots and catch-to-release fishing dams.
The French-themed architectural style of the mansion consists of an open-plan living room, dining room and gourmet country kitchen with center island, Caesarstone counters, breakfast area and pantry. There are five en-suite bedrooms and a triple garage. Separated from the main house is a separate luxury apartment above the garage.
“Built for the owner, no expense spared,” the bidding documents say.
