The streets of Olievenhoutbosch in Centurion were crowded as people queued for food packages on Saturday, and many did not comply with social distance regulations.
Thousands of people queued outside Walter Sisulu Elementary School anxiously waiting for food packages that were donated by the NGO Mahlasedi. Some had been waiting at school since Friday afternoon.
Soldiers and police were seen enforcing blockade regulations, reminding people to keep their distance.
Those who owned vans, cars, and wheelbarrows made a fortune transporting food for people. Food packages include 10 kg of flour, cornmeal, rice and boxes containing canned goods.
