Adele couldn’t contain her laughter during a sketch for “Saturday Night Live” about the “Africa Tourism Board.”
While hanging out with “SNL” cast members Kate McKinnon and Heidi Gardner, the 32-year-old singer pretended to be a divorcee talking about her experience in “beautiful, beautiful Africa.”
And as the women listed the reasons why tourists should flock to the mainland, emphasizing the “tribesmen”, Adele broke character and laughed when she mentioned the “lush, hanging foliage.”
McKinnon explained that her character traveled to Africa to find a “fresh start” after their divorce, leading Adele to claim that they are “better new in the crystal clear waters and sandy beaches of Africa.”
The singer added that she has found such a “deep, deep connection” with the continent, struggling to convey the line through her laughter.
“You can feel it in your stomach,” added cast member Heidi Gardner, reiterating Adele’s comments.
Both Gardner and McKinnon stayed composed throughout the sketch, but the Grammy-winning musician leaned in and laughed towards the end.
One fan called Adele’s character breakdown the “absolute best”, while another called it “what we all need in 2020.”
I love Adele. She is so dumb and she made me die when she laughed during the Africa skit. Those moments are some of the best moments ??????. It is real! #SNL

But while the sketch amused some people, others did not accept the premise behind Adele’s laugh.
Many viewers felt that the “SNL” writers portrayed Africa as a playground for white women by showing Adele, McKinnon and Gardner throwing sexual innuendo on African “tribesmen”.
Some even claimed that the drawing was “fetishizing” African men.

Although much of the criticism was directed at the writers behind the scenes, Adele has faced a similar backlash in the past.
Before her debut as a host on “SNL,” Adele was accused of cultural appropriation.
In August, the singer posted a photo on Instagram wearing a bikini with the Jamaican flag and Bantu knots, a hairstyle that originated with the Zulu people of southern Africa and has become ingrained in black culture.
Both the Bantu knots and the bikini pattern confused fans, prompting a host of memes and backlash on Twitter.
