DStv, MultiChoice’s satellite streaming service, has launched its new Customer Experience Center at the Mall of the North, Polokwane.

The store concept occupies 669 square meters on two floors, merging “the best of the digital and physical shopping experience”.

Customers can access a variety of services including purchasing set-top boxes, testing devices, activating services, paying for subscriptions, and accessing self-service features.

The store is equipped with themed spaces with a sales booth, solutions bar, content room, entertainment modules to provide customers with the full experience of the latest DStv products and services.

The Customer Experience Center showcases the latest and greatest that DStv has to offer. This includes DStv’s new set-top box, the recently launched Explora Ultra with built-in Wifi and access to streaming services like Showmax and Netflix.

“Our goal is to be closer to our customers through this Customer Experience Center in Polokwane. It remains important to DStv to elevate the customer experience and continually improve our customer service support.

“This space also allows us to show our main innovative products and services directly to our customers while attracting new ones,” said Simon Camerer, director of customer service at Multichoice SA.

At launch, the store will employ 18 highly trained service consultants.

As with existing DStv walk-in centers in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria, Polokwane’s new Customer Experience Center will observe all Covid-19 security protocols, the group said.

Meanwhile, MultiChoice plans to launch unlimited fiber bundled DStv subscriptions via South African ISPs in the near future.

The group’s chief executive, Calvo Mawela, told MyBroadband that the company plans to launch this product through partner ISPs before the end of its financial year in March 2021.

It will comprise a separate DStv streaming service that will be bundled with a fiber product at a discounted rate, meaning that South Africans will no longer need a satellite connection to watch DStv.

Instead, they will use the new DStv Explora Ultra or the upcoming Streama set-top box, which can deliver the full DStv package over an internet connection.

“The goal is this financial year, but of course this year is one of those great years where we have a lot of things that we are bringing to light at the same stage, and I think we are trying to make sure that we scale them well and that we give people the opportunity to understand these products, ”Mawela said.

“Our view is that we will still be able to implement it during this financial year, we don’t see any setbacks there.”

He said MultiChoice is carefully considering their partnerships with ISPs, noting that they don’t want to bring something to market that they are not satisfied with.

“It is an area that is something new for us. We have never really delved into internet links, ”he said.
