  • Table View High School has condemned a fake and racist TikTok account, which has been using its name.
  • It is also alleged that another account posed as the identity of a 15-year-old student from the school.
  • The user posted a video of a group of students in the school hallway, where the k-word was used.

Table View High School has strongly condemned and distanced itself from a TikTok account, which was created under the name of the school.

The account shared a racist post, where the k-word was used.

According to the Western Cape Education Department (WCED), the account attempted to use the school’s name, while there was also an attempt to impersonate the identity of a 15-year-old at the school.

“Please note Table View High School does not have a TikTok account,” the school posted on its Facebook page. “We distance ourselves from this account.”

Education department spokesman Bronagh Hammond said they have compromised with the school and confirmed that the student’s account was allegedly spoofed.

“The parents turned the student’s phone over to the police and opened a character defamation case,” Hammond said.

He said that arrangements were being made with a digital forensics company to remove the content.

The school, meanwhile, has instructed a lawyer to address the issue with TikTok, in order to remove the fake account.

“The content is extremely offensive and unacceptable,” Hammond said.

Waving ‘riots and racial tension’

The creator of the account, named @tableviewhighscool, posted a video of a group of students in school uniforms standing on stage, with the caption, “We have given all our k —— blazers.

The word k had a monkey emoji in place of the letter “a,” the Daily Voice reported.

“It is disturbing that ‘someone’ has allegedly masqueraded as a child’s story and posed as a school story, which never existed, with the intention of maliciously sowing seeds of division, hatred and racism, and causing harm to a minor and the integrity of this school, “added Hammond.

“It is unacceptable that people want to, intentionally and maliciously, to provoke racial riots and tensions.”
