YTS Settles $ 1.05 Million Lawsuit and Still Remains Online

Copyright owners have found a new way to satisfy themselves with pirated sites. As online pirated content sites are becoming unavoidable, original content owners are settling for penalties rather than completely shutting down the service.

A group of movie companies just did that. Hailing from Hawaii, movie companies affiliated with Millennium Media have filed a lawsuit against the popular torrent site YTS.mx. The group struck a deal with YTS for damaged payments of $ 1.05 million and the removal of their movie links from the site.

Aggrieved by copyright infringement, film companies in Hunter Killer Productions Inc., Bodyguard Productions Inc., Venice PI LLC, TBV Productions LLC, UN4 Productions Inc., Millennium Funding Inc., and MON LLC They have filed a lawsuit against YTS, the popular hosting platform for the pirated site.

They tend to settle YTS’s illegal act with some cash for a damage claim, rather than shutting down all service. This is incredible, as any wronged copyright owner would ultimately want to withdraw the service, rather than claim damages. But here, the group of seven Hawaiian companies has entered into a YTS agreement with YTS operators. $ 150,000 each. This adds up to $ 1,050,000.

Furthermore, YTS was also asked to remove the torrent links for those movies belonging to the affected movie companies and to ensure that those links would not reappear in the future. Interestingly, YTS settled for this! YTS operators were named as Senthil Vijay Segaran and a company called Techmodo in the consent judgment, which agreed to withdraw the requested links and pay the required amount. It was decided that YTS would work as usual after this.

Well, that is not all. The petitioners also come after YTS users have browsed / downloaded the infringed content. The list includes some from the YTS database and some that also used VPN.
