There was a time when Rekha and Amitabh were totally inseparable. Big B’s wife Jaya Bachchan was testing everything to keep Rekha away from Amitabh. Jaya was always portrayed as one of the star wives who is known to have immense patience when it comes to handling her husband Amitabh’s love affair with Rekha. She was never seen or heard sobbing or letting her weak side reveal herself to the media, friends or colleagues. But, there came a time in his life when things got completely out of control and he couldn’t bear the burden of Big B’s relationship with Rekha anymore.
Jaya Bachchan lost her cold and slapped Rekha
Producer Tito Tony planned to cast Rekha and Amitabh together in their movie ‘Ram Balram’. Since Jaya had some strong connections to Bollywood, he recommended Tito Tony to choose Zeenat Aman for the film. When Rekha found out about his replacement, he couldn’t bear it, he knew that producer Tito Tony would turn a deaf ear to him, so he thought about bringing this to the film’s director, Vijay Anand, and convinced him to include her in the movie.
Rekha was one of the best actresses of her time, so when a star like Rekha who approached a job director was definitely considered prestigious, Vijay Anand couldn’t turn down Rekha but kept the ball in his court to convince the producer Titus Tony. Rekha then offered Tito Tony an offer that no producer could reject. She decided to act for free in the movie.
Filming of the movie began. Jaya’s anger knew no bounds, she was tired of convincing Big B not to work on the movie, and she had done her best to keep the two away, but it was unfortunate. One day, Jaya suddenly landed on the sets of the movie where she saw Rekha and Amitabh talking privately. She couldn’t see it and in the heat of the moment she stood in front of the two of them and slapped Rekha in front of Amitabh. The entire crew was shocked to witness the episode. Amitabh did not wait on sets for even a moment and left the place immediately.
Rekha and Jaya’s relationship
Rekha and Jaya have always had a cordial relationship in public. Although the two have talked about their relationship with Bachchan Senior, nothing came from Big B. Bachchan bahu Aishwarya shares a great bond with Rekha, who is not much preferred by Bachchans.
