LOS ANGELES – Taylor Swift on Thursday revived her feud with her former record company, complaining that the release of a 2008 collection of recordings for a radio show was “tasteless.”
“I want to thank my fans for making me aware that my old record label is releasing an ‘album’ of my live performances tonight. … This release was not endorsed by me,” Swift told his 131 million followers. Instagram.
The album, Live from Clear Channel Stripped 2008, is a collection of recordings that Swift made for a radio show when he was 18, the Bold singer said.
She called the Big Machine Label Group’s release “another case of shameless greed in the Coronavirus era. Very tasteless, but very transparent.”
Big Machine declined to comment Thursday.
Swift recorded her first six albums with Big Machine before leaving in 2018 for Universal Music Group. Big Machine owns the master recordings from its subsequent catalog and, according to industry standard practice, reserves the right to publish material that was recorded when tagged.
Swift has been publicly fighting for over a year with Big Machine and its top executives over the use of their old songs. The dispute escalated last November when music executive Scooter Braun said his family had received death threats due to Swift’s comments and called for peace.
