I remember my high school prom like it was yesterday.
That Debut by Debenhams cowl neck dress and silver shawl, paired with a tasteful ‘diamond’ necklace and matching bracelet … I may have been 17, but I sure looked like a 45-year-old.
I’d love to say that once I got to prom things improved, but suffice to say they didn’t. The popular guy didn’t suddenly declare his undying love for me, there was no epic dance off, I didn’t even get a corsage, and there was definitely no Freddie Prinze Jr waiting in my back garden (complete with fairy lights) when I got home.
Like it or not, prom is a right of passage for everyone … including Kim Kardashian.
To celebrate the launch of her new fragrance with her mum, Kris Jenner, Kim posted a throwback picture from her 1996 prom and my god, we need to beak her frankly iconic look down.
Like all good 17 year olds, Kim went for a classy (seriously backcombed) up-do, complete with side fringe, of course.
Meanwhile her makeup … how do I put this? Was a little heavier than we’re used to seeing Kimberly wearing.

Thankfully, Kim’s smokey eye hacks have moved on since these dark navy days, but am I the only whose kind of obsessed with that taupe frosted lip?
Does Rimmel still sell ‘Heather Shimmer’? Asking for a friend …
I haven’t even touched on the fact that Kris and Kim seem to be wearing matching makeup, don’t even try and tell me that those lipsticks aren’t the same shade. In fact, baby Kim is giving me some serious mini Momager vibes here.
I can only hope that Kim continues to find more iconic throwbacks during lockdown.
