8-year-old boy saves sister’s life after learning CPR on Nickelodeon children’s show with John Cena

  • Jaxson took 30 seconds to get the nugget out of Layla’s throat.

An 8-year-old boy saved his 20-month-old sister’s life thanks to a television show on Nickelodeon.

Jaxson Demsey from Pennsylvania was in the back seat of his father’s car with his sister Layla on Wednesday when he noticed she was choking on a nugget.

Remembering an episode of The substitute With John Cena as a substitute teacher teaching first aid in a children’s classroom on a mannequin, Jaxson immediately jumped into action.

ME! News reports that it took Jaxson 30 seconds to get the nugget out of his sister’s throat, all thanks to the CPR technique he learned from watching the show.

In an interview with ABC affiliate WNEPJaxson said, “I was scared because I thought she was going to die. But then this came to my mind. I told my dad to stop and started patting her on the back.”

Nickelodeon spokesman David Bittler said in a statement to E! News: “Everyone at Nickelodeon is so proud of Jaxson and his heroic actions, and we are honored to be a part of such a remarkable story of good news and courage! Hooray for Jaxson and Layla !!!”

The substitute on Nickelodeon is an undercover prank show featuring celebrity cameos that have included John Cena, Ne-Yo, Lilly Singh, Peyton List, and Shaun White.
