JOHANNESBURG – The Acting Director General of the State Security Agency (SSA) Loyiso Jafta was fired and replaced by the Chief of National Intelligence (NICOC), Ambassador Gab Msimanga.

UDM leader Bantu Holomisa said he was not surprised by Jafta’s firing.

Jafta’s firing comes a few months after he testified in the Zondo commission about the looting at SSA.

The Minister of State Security, Ayanda Dlodlo, had tried to prevent him from giving testimony, but her candidacy failed.

This came after Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo rejected the minister’s request.

Holomisa said she was not surprised given that these ministers have long usurped the powers of accountants.

“In this case, it is clear that should Zondo deal with more hearings on SSA, Jafta should not appear before the commission. Sheer interference in Zondo’s proceedings to crush any additional testimony from Jafta. “

SSA spokeswoman Mava Scott could not be reached for comment.
