Veteran actor Menzi Ngubane dies at 56

The actor, who made an appointment to see his countless roles in South Africa, passed away on Saturday.

JOHANNESBURG – One of South Africa’s most recognized actors, Menzi Ngubane, has passed away.

Naomi Mokhele of Sebabatso Media confirmed her death due to a stroke on Saturday to Eyewitness news.

Ngubane has appeared on the country’s screens since 1987, her featured role that year on the local television series _Kwakhala Nyonini _ as the character of Cijimpi.

More recently, Sibusiso Dlomo was in Generations and Judas Ngwenya in The kraal. He was also in hit series The Queen. Ngubane also assumed roles in Yes Yes, Ashes to ashes Y Gold diggers, among others.

He has also acted in several films, including How to steal 2 million, which won the best film award in 2012 at the African Movie Academy Awards.

Ngubane also worked alongside Samuel L Jackson in the South African feature film, In my country, based on the book by Antjie Krog, Country of my skull.

The actor was born in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal in 1964.

Many people expressed their shock at his passing Saturday night on social media, with his myriad roles creating date-watching for many South Africans across the country.

The details of his death are still unknown.
