The victory over the Angolan team in Soweto on Saturday prevented the Glamor Boys from going nine straight games without a win.
Hunt made eight changes from the team that lost 4-0 to Wydad Casablanca last weekend, resulting in a 2-0 home win for the Chiefs, thanks to goals from Erick Mathoho and Happy Mashiane.
Several of the changes were applied: goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was unavailable due to the death of his sister, while forwards Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic were injured.
Central defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele was suspended, while Kearyn Baccus, Siyabonga Ngezana and Njabulo Blom fell to the bench after starting last week in Ouagadougou. Anthony Akumu Agay retired from the team entirely.
“Man City changes six, seven every week and they keep winning so I don’t know,” Hunt told the media after the game when asked about the changes.
Amakhosi’s mentor admitted that the inconsistency in the lineup made things more difficult, but claimed he had few options.
“We made changes because we had a lot of players out and stuff,” Hunt said. “And obviously that affects the balance of the team, and when the balance of the team goes away, you need to play with players, like I played with Lazzy (Lazarous Kambole) on the right, you know we don’t really have a right side I had to play with him there He did well and ran hard for us.
“We didn’t have a forward, so we played Lebo (Lebogang Manyama) there, and that’s how it goes through the team. [Bernard] Parker played as a midfielder because it was the right decision, and so on.
“And in the back, Tower (Mathoho) hasn’t played and I need to get him in shape. So I had to play with him. I’m not going to get him in shape by training him, I’m going to get him in shape. Putting mileage on his legs. a ripple effect on the team. “
