Consistently working through a large pile of past work is what secured Muhammed Goolam 100% in Math as his final grade.
Greenside High School staff members were excited when Goolam picked up his enrollment statement at the school on Tuesday.
“I’m really very happy. I wasn’t expecting anything like this. Math is a subject I’ve always been passionate about, so naturally I’d like to do more. I think I was doing a lot of previous work and a lot of practice. I have to thank my teachers for all their support, “said Goolam ecstatically.

Goolam earned eight honors, including 99% in Advanced Program (AP) Mathematics, and has his mind set on pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics at Wits University.
“Computer science is an emerging field. It is where the world is going right now and I like how the Wits title is structured, because it integrates a lot of math and computational skills that I really enjoy,” he said.
Overall, the 194 Greenside High School matrices returned a 99.5% pass rate, 97 of which were undergraduate and 210 honors.
Plans
A couple of those distinctions belong to Bibi Fatimah Moosa, who plans to make her English work stand out after achieving 79%, to make seven distinctions. He also received an award for AP English.
“We waited over two months for these results so the anxiety subsided and I think yesterday and the day before it recovered because the results were coming out and they were finally here. We were pretty high, we didn’t sleep at night and we were anxiously waiting.” Moosa said.

For Evangelia Stratis, it was overwhelming to see her picture on the achievers board never entering school.
“I feel very overwhelmed. All my hard work finally paid off and I can see it on paper. It is very inspiring. It was also a huge distraction to study at home and do all my work alone, but in the end my hard work paid off. pain”. out, “he said.
Stratis, who earned six honors, will study Veterinary Science at the University of Pretoria.
Also looking to fulfill his childhood dreams and become a veterinarian is Yusuf Matwadia, who earned four distinctions.
“It was difficult to adapt to the online teaching methods, but slowly and surely I was able to adapt to the new way and it turned out to be a good year. From a young age I had a passion for animals. I have always found it to be a key interest to me and there are not many people in that profession so I hope to make a difference in that regard, “said Matwadia.

Meanwhile, at Rand Girls’ School in Parktown, Johannesburg, math teacher and proud father Richard Ndlovu celebrated with his daughter, Noma Ndlovu, who earned five honors.
The school received a 90% pass rate, 57% of which were bachelor’s passes. Ndlovu advised parents whose children did not do so well not to be harsh on them.
