- Prince Philip has been in the hospital for a week; says a royal source as a precaution after the duke felt bad.
- The 99-year-old man’s hospitalization is not related to Covid-19 and he is said to be in a good mood.
- Prince William has since updated the public while visiting a vaccination center in the east of England saying, “Yes, okay, they are watching you.”
Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth of England, is “fine,” Prince William said on Monday after his 99-year-old grandfather spent a sixth night in the hospital.
Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday as a precautionary measure after feeling ill with an ailment that was not related to Covid-19.
“Yes, okay, they are watching him,” William said during a visit to a vaccination center in eastern England. Royal reporters said that he delivered his message with a wink.
The duke was admitted to private King Edward VII’s Hospital in central London after feeling ill for a short period, Buckingham Palace said, and was locked up for the weekend for further observation.
A royal source said that the doctors had been acting very cautious and that Philip was in a good mood.
Son and heir Prince Charles paid him a brief visit on Saturday, although there hasn’t been an official update on his status since last week.
Philip, who retired from his official commitments in 2017, spent four nights in the same hospital in late 2019 while receiving treatment for a pre-existing condition.
