Former President Jacob Zuma’s foundation on Sunday night did another dig in the state, questioning whether it would ever be ready to go ahead with the corruption case against it.

This after the Jacob G Zuma Foundation complained about another “postponement” in the case, a statement that the National Prosecutor’s Office described as “excessively false”.

The case against Zuma and the French company Thales was expected in the Pietermaritzburg high court on Tuesday 23 February.

But in a strong statement on Sunday, in which several salvoes were fired at the NPA, the Jacob G Zuma Foundation said the former president had been informed, without “giving any reason,” that the state would be ready to proceed with the case. criminal on May 17. This, according to the statement, was an affront to Zuma’s rights.

“While we, as a foundation, doubt the in good faith or the state’s willingness to take this case, we hope that our judiciary will not tolerate any postponement beyond this date. While these postponements continue, the rights of President Zuma [are] continuously raped and the narrative that he is guilty continues as NPA propaganda. This is really unfortunate.

“We hope that the judiciary will not tolerate further abuses of the process. In fact, justice delayed is justice denied and this has been the lived reality and experience of President Zuma’s criminal justice system. We will continue to ask the Judiciary to annul this case until the State is really ready, instead of presenting President Zuma as a criminal. The taxpayers’ purse is wasted in the process, ”said the foundation.
