A DOCTOR who bragged on social media about how what he had done led a person to suicide was suspended.

On Wednesday, the Marie Stopes Clinic confirmed that Dr. Melusi Dhlamini, who works as a director at one of its facilities in Sandton, was suspended.

“We are aware of recent comments made by one of our employees on social media. The employee in question has been suspended pending the outcome of an internal investigation,” the clinic said.

In a tweet that Dhlamini posted on Twitter, he said: “Have I told you the story of how I got someone to get blacklisted at any SA university until they committed suicide? All because they wrote a homophobic status on Facebook.”

Dhlamini added that he would do it again, undeterred.

Then the tweet followed with another saying: “You can’t make my existence hell and expect me to be civilized. You will die.”

Dhlamini has since deleted his Twitter account following the uproar his tweets caused.

Dr. Dhlamini has since deactivated his Twitter account.

Tweeps has also called on the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) to fire Dhlamini.
