Bruno Fernandes has come to Liverpool’s defense amid what has undoubtedly been the most difficult period of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure so far.
The Manchester United midfielder has supported the reigning English champions to recover after a tough run of results.
Liverpool’s recent troubles were compounded on Thursday night after Burnley defeated them 1-0 at Anfield. The result was the Reds’ first league loss at Anfield since April 2017.
It was a record dating back to 1,396 days and more than 68 games. Such a formidable form is testament to just how imperious Liverpool have been over the years.
However, with Liverpool extending their league winless streak to five games, they are now six points behind league leaders United.

Additionally, the Reds have also failed to score in their previous four league games, their worst comeback since May 2000.
Fernandes in Liverpool
But Fernandes, who faces Liverpool tomorrow afternoon, believes Klopp and his team will bounce back and provoke a response in the coming weeks.
“I think teams have moments. I don’t think Liverpool are playing badly, ”Fernandes told the United club’s official website.
“I think they [Liverpool] don’t win and this is the point. When teams don’t win, everyone talks about it.
“When the players don’t score, everyone talks about it. I’m sorry because I know the standard is high, because I came in and scored a lot of goals and gave a lot of assists, and everyone wants goals and assists from me.
“It’s the same, everyone expects goals from Salah, Firminho and Mane. They’re not scoring in the last few games and it starts to feel like ‘oh, they’re not playing well.’ They create, they play, but the other teams are playing better and, as I said before, they have more qualities to play with.
“All the teams are going to play maybe without the pressure of the fans. Teams play a little more comfortably and, as I say, I think it’s a moment. We don’t have to look at that moment because great teams and great players can show themselves at all times ”.
Fernandes has been one of the fundamental reasons Liverpool are currently behind United in league standings this season.
The Portuguese international has galvanized Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team and apparently turned them into title contenders.
His stats since he signed for the Old Trafford club are ridiculous. In 50 United appearances, Fernandes has a whopping 27 goals and 18 assists.
