KwaZulu-Natal businessman Suleman “Solly” Bux, president of the Zondo & Bux Educational Trust, has passed away.
Bux is best known for the role he played in helping the family of Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo with groceries while the latter completed his studies.
“The Zondo & Bux Educational Trust is saddened by the passing of its president, Mr. Solly Bux, and conveys its sincere condolences to the Bux family. May God grant the family and all their loved ones tolerance and patience during this difficult time, “said the Trust. he said in a statement posted on social media on Saturday.
During the interview process for the position of Vice President of the Supreme Court, Zondo paid tribute to Bux’s generosity. The judge said the wholesaler had changed his life.
After graduation, Zondo went to work and offered to pay Bux, but the businessman rejected the offer. Instead, he asked Zondo to help others in need in a similar way.
The couple met again in 2017 and formed a friendship founded on the kindness of the businessman of more than 40 years ago.
“You know, I helped him because it was the right thing to do. As a Muslim, helping others is important. But you do it because you want to, not because you want recognition and for everyone to know it, ”Bux said at the time.
The Zondo & Bux Educational Trust was established to help underprivileged schools and to show the kindness that was shown to the Zondo family.
Last year, Zondo and his wife Thembekile joined the South African Muslim Charitable Trust (SAMCT) in association with the Zondo & Bux Educational Trust, when they donated R1.5 million for a well and infrastructure development at Emazabekweni Primary, on the coast. south.
The Fund also funded a digital library at Emazabekweni Secondary School, with math and science tutorials for students in grades eight through twelve. The students also received tablets and access to Wi-Fi.
