Durban – KZN police are investigating a murder case after the decomposing body of a 46-year-old Ndedwe man was found in a swamp near his home.
According to KZN police spokesman Colonel Thembeka Mbele, the man was last seen on December 29 at his home.
She said that on Saturday around 11:30 pm, members of Umhlali K9 Search and Rescue and Durban Search and Rescue were called to the Molokholo area in Ndwedwe to retrieve her body.
“The deceased was located approximately 200 meters from his house in a swamp covered with reeds.”
Mbele said he sustained multiple injuries to his chest and abdomen.
“The body was pulled out of the swamp and carried up a steep embankment to road level and handed over to members of Ndwedwe SAPS at the scene. A murder case is being investigated ”.
In another incident, in mid-December, a decomposed body wrapped in a duvet was found floating in a river in Phoenix, on the north shore of KZN.
Police said the deceased had open wounds on his forehead and chin and was wrapped in a duvet.
A murder case was opened.
