A staggering penalty statistic emerges comparing Liverpool and Man United

An incredible penalty statistic has emerged that shows how many penalties Manchester United win compared to Liverpool.

The Reds’ archrivals drew at the top of the Premier League on Friday night, following a 2-1 win at home to Aston Villa.

The United winner came from the penalty spot, with Bruno Fernandes shooting on goal in the second half.

Paul Pogba’s penalty shot seemed very smooth, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side again benefited from the referees who ruled in their favor.

After the match, an astonishing fact emerged thanks to Liverpool Football Club statistician Ged Rea in Twitter, who revealed that United have received 42 penalties since Solskjaer became coach in December 2018.

Not only that, but Liverpool have only been awarded 46 in the entire reign of Jurgen Klopp, which began more than five years ago:

At this point, you have to ask yourself if United are being treated differently from the rest, considering how many penalties they are winning.

If it were the best team in the country, finding itself endlessly in opposition penalty areas, that might explain it to some extent, but that’s not the case.

Instead, the real best team are being given far fewer shots from the point, with United apparently taking as many that others don’t.

Maybe Alex Ferguson is still working his magic with the referees!

Will Liverpool retain the Premier League title this season?
