Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is not concerned with Manchester United being tied on points with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team is on a roll and beat Aston Villa 2-1 on New Year’s Day.

However, Guardiola is focused on his side and demands improvements from his players.

City have been inconsistent so far this season, ranking eighth in the Premier League, seven points behind their rivals.

However, Guardiola’s team has two games in hand and will return to action against Chelsea later today (4.30pm).

“I’m pretty sure Ole is happier than me, but I’m not too worried about United,” said the City manager.

“I’m very busy with what we have to do on a day-to-day basis with the players that we have and working with my exceptional group of people on the back room staff to move us forward.

“If United are there, it is because they deserve it. Ever since I came to City I expected United to be there all the time.

“Sometimes in the last few seasons, it wasn’t always possible, especially in the Premier League.

“But now they are there and if they want to learn about this league, my advice to my players is not to think too much about the next four, five, six games and think about what happens if they win this many games.
