Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula said all airlines must amend schedules to ensure that the curfew for domestic and international flights is taken into account under the amended level 3 lockdown regulations.

CAPE TOWN – Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula said he was in the process of finalizing agreements with various ministers that would then pave the way for his own department’s regulations.
He has been meeting with the ministers of Cooperative Governance, Commerce and Industry, Police and Correctional Services.
He visited Cape Town International Airport on Thursday morning.
Mbalula said that all airlines must amend schedules to ensure curfew is taken into account for both domestic and international flights under amended level 3 lockdown regulations.
“As a consequence, the South African Civil Aviation Authority has already sent a notice to airmen [and] to all airlines to consider curfew when reviewing their schedules. “
Mbalula said there would be no changes in the directions that regulate the movement of the ships.
He said the ban on passenger and cruise ships remained in effect, with only ships carrying cargo and small ships allowed to enter the port.
The minister said there were no changes to public transport regulations either.
“Seventy percent of cargo capacity for the load of long-distance taxis and buses. We must bear in mind that many people will travel long distances to return to their places of work.”
