The 20 winners of the December 1 PowerBall draw have collected their winnings, national lottery operator Ithuba confirmed on Wednesday. Each won R5.6m.

One of the last people to show up is a Limpopo police officer.

The public servant said that he will use part of his earnings to build a house for his family and invest the rest. The officer spent R52.50 on his winning ticket.

Another winner, a man from Port Elizabeth who is nearing retirement, said: “I can finally build my wife the home of her dreams. She is the only person I have told about my earnings because I entrust my life to her.

“We kept the ticket in the closet and kept checking that it was still there until we could claim. I no longer have financial stress, I will spend more time on the things I love to do, especially gardening, ”said the winner, who spent R45 on his ticket.

A winner from the Western Cape, who won the jackpot with an R15 ticket bet, dreams of a romantic getaway.

“One special thing I’d really like to do is take my wife on a honeymoon because we could never afford that after we got married,” he said.

The winning numbers for the PowerBall drawing were: 8, 5, 9, 7, 6 and PowerBall 10 (5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and PowerBall 10 in numerical order).
