Mosimane, Al Ahly coach, responds to Ibrahim Hassan: maybe his statements sit well with Real Madrid

The 56-year-old insists that mentoring the Red Devils doesn’t mean the team is automatically the winner of every game.

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has responded to Alexandria Al Ittihad assistant coach Ibrahim Hassan after criticizing the South African tactician.

Hassan stated that coaching Al Ahly is an easy job and Mosimane would struggle to last just two matches if he took over any other Egyptian Premier League team.

This came after Mosimane led Al Ahly to a 4-0 win over Al Ittihad in a league game on Monday when the Kagiso-born mentor returned to the bench after recovering from the coronavirus.

It was Mosimane’s second win over Al Ittihad after Al Ahly eliminated the Alexandria-based team from the Egypt Cup earlier this month.

Mosimane took Hassan’s opinion in stride and explained that the success he has had at the Red Devils is due to hard work.

“I respect your [Ibrahim Hassan’s] opinion, “Mosimane said in King fut.

“Perhaps his statements will also suit clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City, but I know that football doesn’t work like that.”

Mosimane started working at Al Ahly when he joined the club after resigning as head coach of the Mamelodi Sundowns in late September 2020.

The 2016 Caf Coach of the Year guided the Red Devils to the Caf Champions League and Egypt Cup, where the Cairo-based giants completed a treble in the 2019/20 season.

The Red Devils had conquered the 2019/20 Egyptian Premier League title with Swiss coach Rene Weiler and Mosimane was in charge of the last seven games of the competition.

“If so, why haven’t Al Ahly won the Champions League in the last seven years?” Mosimane asked.

“Being Al Ahly does not mean that we are automatically the winners of every game. We have to prepare for the games and work hard to win. “

Ibrahim Hassan’s twin brother and Ittihad’s head coach, Hossam Hassan, praised Mosimane earlier this month, saying he is a high-caliber coach.

Mosimane has yet to lose a game as Al Ahly’s coach, taking over 14 games in all competitions – winning 13 and drawing one with 10 men against Pyramids FC.
