Designer Pierre Cardin has passed away at the age of 98

The French fashion designer passed away in Neuilly hospital, near Paris, France. His family confirmed the news by praising his “tenacious ambition.”

“It is a day of great sadness for our entire family. Pierre Cardin no longer exists,” his family said in a statement. “We are all proud of his tenacious ambition and the daring that he has shown throughout his life.”

The designer was famous for dressing a host of celebrities, including The Beatles, Naomi Campbell, and Elizabeth Taylor.

According to the New York Times, “he laid the foundations for a global empire in the late 1950s. At a time when France was the undisputed epicenter of fashion, he brought his designs to Moscow, Tokyo and Beijing, doing more to erode. international borders than any designer of the day. “

When the space age dawned, the designer had a career spanning three-quarters of a century, dressing men and women in spacesuits. In 1969, NASA commissioned him to create an interpretation of a spacesuit, a landmark of inspiration in his later work.
