Tributes continue to pour in after the death of retired Limpopo-born playwright, actor and radio host Mahuma Paul Rapetsoa.

His son Matome confirmed that the 70-year-old man died in Polokwane hospital on Tuesday.

Rapetsoa is known for his work in theater and radio dramas on SABC’s Thobela FM, where he once headed the theater department.

He currently appeared on the soap opera SABC 1 Skeem Saam.

Rapetsoa is considered the father of municipal theater in Limpopo after producing, directing, and starring in several plays in a career spanning more than four decades.

He also mentored some of the country’s best actors in the province, including the late Skeem Saam actor Charles Maja, who died in April, as well as Thobela FM host and actor Sebasa Mogale.

Some of Rapetsoa’s popular plays include the play “Get Down” and “My Pride.”

He also founded the Paul Rapetsoa Institute of Dramatic Arts.
