Beaches in areas not considered Covid-19 hot spots will be open to the public and licensed fishing will be allowed, says Cogta Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

Publishing the new revised Level 3 regulations, following President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement of stricter restrictions to combat the rising rate of infections, he has outlined which activities are prohibited and which are permitted.

All beaches, dams, lakes and rivers, including all recreational facilities at these locations, are closed to the public in all 22 areas of interest, as stated by Ramaphosa.

However, residents of places like Kleinzee and Port Nolloth are allowed to enjoy their beaches, subject to a curfew and as long as there is no overcrowding.

The regulation establishes: “The beaches that are open to the public in non-critical points (that is, Northern Cape) will only be open between 6:00 am and 7:00 pm: and will be monitored to verify compliance with all health protocols and distancing measures Social”.
