JOHANNESBURG – The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, said on Tuesday that international travel has not changed under the country’s level 3 lockdown.
In briefing the media, the minister said that the 18 land borders, which were partially operational, would be fully operational.
He said that the 34 land borders, which were closed, will remain closed, except for the Kosibay border post between South Africa and Mozambique, which will reopen on January 1, 2021.
The minister also said that the initiation schools will have to be closed under the adjusted level 3 closure.
He said that the initiation schools that had already been opened before the implementation of the country’s level 3 lockdown regulations could continue to operate to complete their processes.
However, Dlamini-Zuma said new initiates cannot be taken and post-initiation celebrations are prohibited.
Previously, Dlamini-Zuma said that people could go to restaurants, museums, gyms, casinos, galleries, cinemas and theaters.
However, venues must allow a maximum of 50 people seated just 1.5 meters away and the sale of alcohol is prohibited.
If the place cannot accommodate the 1.5 meter distance, then the number of people allowed inside must be less than 50.
