Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula intervened at the latest meeting of Chippa United and Dan “Dance” Malesela, saying that Malesela’s “abuse” was getting on his nerves.
Malesela was reappointed as Chippa United’s head coach on Sunday. He will be a coach until the end of the 2020-21 season, with the option to renew for one season.
His appointment comes a week after he was fired by DStv Premiership’s new guys, TS Galaxy.
This is Malesela’s fourth meeting with Chippa United. They first put him on “special license” in April of the 2016-17 season, then reinstated him for the final games.
He was fired in September of the 2017-18 season by club president Siviwe “Chippa” Mpengesi and replaced by his assistant, Teboho Moloi.
Malesela was also fired by Chippa in March 2018 and later in August 2018, just three games in the 2018-19 season.
On Twitter, Mbalula said that Malesela did a good job as a trainer, but was fired “like a dog.”
He said Mpengesi was “abusing” Malesela because he knows she is vulnerable.
“This Chippa thing abusing Dan Dance like this is getting on my nerves. Malesela did a good job for him there eventually and fired him like a dog, nje because she knows the guy is vulnerable. Sad. This is not how a human being is treated, ”Mbalula said.
