- “Yes, I am a white girl. Ethnically I am a mixture of many, many, many things,” she said in a 7-minute Instagram video.
Hilaria Baldwin, Alec Baldwin’s wife, responded to claims that she faked a Spanish accent and exaggerated her connection to Spain.
Her confession was likely in response to a tweet that read: “You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin’s commitment to her decade-long rift in which she poses as a Spanish person.”
“I’ve seen online chats questioning my identity and culture,” the yoga instructor said in a 7-minute Instagram video on Sunday.
“There are some things that need to be clarified,” the video began.
Hilaria said that although she was born in Boston, she spent most of her childhood traveling between Spain and Boston.
“And I am very lucky to have grown up speaking two different languages and I am trying to raise my children, so they speak two languages too. And that is something very important to me, especially having my family abroad,” he said.
Hilaria added: “Yes, I am a different kind of Bostonian, but that is what I am, and you cannot change your background, nor would I want to, I am very, very proud of who I am.”
The podcaster said that Hillary was born, but he used Hilaria and Hillary interchangeably, depending on the country he was in. Later he “consolidated” the two names “because there were so many documents that said so many different things.”
“I think we can all be clear that it is the same name and just some different letters, so I think we should not be so upset about that,” he added.
“Yes, I am a white girl,” she said, adding, “Ethnically I am a mixture of many, many, many things.”
