Ian Wright has urged Arsenal to replace their current underperforming players with their best youngsters if they want to turn things around for themselves.
The Gunners have been on a losing streak this season and things could get worse if they don’t start getting the points on the board very soon.
Their last bad performance was against Manchester City when they were beaten 4-1 in the Carabao Cup with many of our marginal players.
Mikel Arteta brought back characters like Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac for the game and Wright doesn’t think it makes sense to keep playing them.
He said Arsenal should get rid of those players as they have nothing to offer and instead give their youngsters playing time. He wants players like William Saliba and Emile Smith Rowe to have opportunities to play for the club, as Willian has already squandered his chances to impress the team.
“I have to say, from my point of view, with the coach and the players he’s picking now, I think people like Emile Smith Rowe and Joe Willock and those guys, I would like to see them have a chance,” the legendary said. Arsenal forward on Optus Sport’s The Kelly and Wrighty Show quoted by Metro.
‘That’s simply because you’re looking at the Willians, it’s not happening and he’s not playing well. Why do you play people like Kolasinac? Why do you play someone like Mustafi? I prefer to see [William] Saliba, who is playing in the U23, I prefer to see Smith Rowe and I prefer to see something different.
‘I would say to the people above: give the money to Mesut Ozil if they are not going to play with him and move on. The same with Kolasinac and the same with those players who are in and around the club and are not going to contribute.
‘That’s what you need, players who are contributing. Arsenal have to realize that they are in a situation that can get worse and if they lose those games against Brighton and West Brom… those games are games that they must win. ‘
