Liverpool have been linked to Lille central defender Sven Botman this week by Foot Mercato and have certainly had a lot of Kopites talking.
The 20-year-old has been hinted at as the man to solve the Reds’ current defensive injury crisis, which has seen Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez discarded for most of the season.
Botman only came to the Ligue 1 club in the summer from Dutch giant Ajax and has impressed in his 16 national appearances to date. Lille have conceded the fewest goals in the French top flight and the Dutchman played his part in that impressive feat.
The looming financial crisis in French football means that Lille may be forced to sell its prized assets, potentially for less than their perceived value.
